A. Lindberg & Sons was founded in 1914 by Alfred J. Lindberg who along with his three sons, Walter, Stanley, and Alfred, established a road building construction firm. The Lindbergs are responsible for many miles of roads built throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as well as the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. A. Lindberg & Sons now represents five generations of involvement in road building and heavy construction. Incorporated in 1948, the firm has the equipment, bonding capacity, a 'can do' attitude, and the expertise to ensure successful completion of any construction project.

A. Lindberg & Sons, Inc. is also a producer of aggregate materials which are used for applications such as concrete aggregate, asphalt aggregate, road gravel and sub base, foundation stone, erosion control, as well as architectural or landscaping purposes. This wide selection of stone aggregate, sand, gravel, and topsoil is manufactured in several pits and quarries which are owned or controlled by Lindberg.

A. Lindberg & Sons, Inc. is prequalified by MDOT in more than ten different work category types associated with transportation construction. Lindberg is a member of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association (MITA) (formally Michigan Road Builders Association), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), and an Associate Member of Michigan Asphalt Paving Association (MAPA).

A. Lindberg & Sons, Inc. works with various public and private bodies when constructing projects. Besides MDOT, the public bodies with whom Lindberg is typically engaged includes County Road Commissions, Airport Authorities, Army Corp of Engineers, Cities, Villages, and Townships, as well as other State and Federal agencies. In the private arena, work is typically associated with large commercial and residential developers, utility companies, as well as major companies involved in the mining, timber, and paper industries.

A. Lindberg & Sons, Inc. is not just a road and bridge builder, but also excels in airport construction, underground utility construction, wet land creation, and other earth work projects, such as embankment construction for dams, lagoons, and waste disposal sites along with all associated appurtenances. Installation of sheet pile walls and load bearing foundation piles are also routinely handled by Lindberg's skilled crews, as is work with hazardous material clean up projects.
